Below is a vectorized portrait of the late English professor and poet, John Calvin Rezmerski.  Rezmerski was also the Poet Laureate of the League of Minnesota Poets. I am also a member of the League of Minnesota Poets and they asked me to do this portrait to publicize their "Rez Award."  See it in print below on a postcard for the 2019 League of Minnesota Poets Fall Conference.
My Process: I began by locating a good photograph of my subject, which I imported into Adobe Illustrator.  Once in Illustrator, I selected the layer with the photograph and turned it into a template, which locked the layer and dimmed the image, allowing me to draw on a level above. Using the pen tool, I started drawing the facial features, gradually filling them in with color as I went along. When I had drawn and colored in the entire figure, I imported the drawing into Photoshop, where I used painting tools on a level above the drawing for a nice effect.
